April 2025 - The weekend that changed everything

Image
In April 2025, we travelled to Berck-sur-Mer, France, to spend a weekend at the Rencontres Internationales des Cerfs-Volants (International Kite Festival). How our kite flying journey began

Kite flying has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, I often went flying kites with my father. We especially loved flying dual-line kites. As the years passed, that passion slowly faded, mainly because we no longer had enough space to enjoy the hobby. Everything changed when we started spending more time at the Belgian coast. It immediately caught his attention, and he began experimenting with it. Little by little, we both fell in love with the unique control and precision that four-line kites offer. At that time, we still had our beloved Whippet, Keaton. While my husband was practising, I would often stay with Keaton, enjoying our time...

Welcome to KiteOn

We are two passionate amateur kite flyers who simply love being outdoors and enjoying the wind.  Whether we're flying colourful single-line display kites , dual-line sport kites , or quad-line kites , every session brings fun, relaxation and a new challenge. For us, kite flying is much more than a hobby. It's a way to step away from everyday life, spend quality time together and appreciate nature. It also helps us stay positive when life becomes challenging, giving us a healthy distraction and a chance to focus on the moment instead of our worries. On this website, we share our adventures, photos, videos, equipment, tips and the events we visit. We're not experts—just two enthusiasts who enjoy learning, flying and meeting fellow kite lovers along the way. Thanks for stopping by, and we hope our passion inspires you to get outside, catch the wind and enjoy the amazing world of kites. Keep the wind in your lines... Keep KiteOn! Tony-Marieke
